What is Retreats Abroad?

Retreats Abroad is a New Zealand-based booking platform that curates the best retreats, small group tours and wellness experiences. All experiences on Retreats Abroad are vetted for quality, backed by exceptional reviews and led by experienced guides and facilitators.

Do you run the retreats and tours yourselves?

We work closely with trusted retreat hosts and tour operators who are experts in wellness, adventure and cultural experiences. By collaborating with the best, we can offer you a carefully curated selection of retreats, small groups tours and wellness experiences. We handle the booking process so you can relax and travel with confidence.

Is pick-up and drop-off included?

Most tours include convenient pickup and drop-off from central locations – you’ll see what’s included on each tour page and can choose your preferred pickup point when booking.

 

For retreats, many hosts can also arrange optional transfers from the nearest airport or town. You’ll find full details on each retreat listing.

Is there an age limit for tours or retreats

Most of our tours are open to all ages, though some activities (like zip lining or adventure tours) may have minimum age requirements for safety.

 

Retreats are generally designed for adults, with a minimum age of 16-18 depending on the host. Each listing will clearly note any age restrictions.

Blackburn Ridge is a private group retreat in Hawke’s Bay, available to book through Retreats Abroad. It’s a family-friendly retreat that welcomes children of all ages, making it perfect for a getaway where everyone can relax and reconnect in your own private space.

Booking & Payment

How do I check availability?

On each tour or retreat page, you’ll find a live calendar or “Check Availability” button. Once you’ve chosen your dates, follow the prompts to reserve your spot.

How do you book a tour or retreat?

You can book a retreat directly through our website by selecting your preferred experience, choosing your dates, and completing the payment process. If you need assistance, our team is happy to help!

Can I book last minute?

Yes – many tours and some retreats accept bookings up to the day before. Retreats that include accommodation may require more notice, especially in peak seasons.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and some local payment options depending on your location.

Do I need to pay in full when I book?

Most tours require full payment at the time of booking. Retreats often require a deposit to secure your place, with the balance due closer to the start date. The payment terms are shown during checkout.

What is your cancellation policy?

Each retreat and tour partner sets their own policy. You’ll find the cancellation terms clearly outlined before you confirm your booking.

Retreats vs. Tours

What is the difference between a retreat and a tour?
  • Retreats: Multi-day wellness experiences with accommodation included — such as yoga, meditation, spa, and nature-based programs.

  • Tours: Day trips or multi-day guided adventures designed to help you explore New Zealand’s natural wonders and cultural highlights.

Can I combine a retreat with a tour?

Absolutely – many guests book a retreat first, then add day tours before or after to make the most of their trip.

 

When booking, please note that retreats and tours are processed as two separate transactions – simply book your retreat in one transaction and your tour in another.
